Profile
By day, I’m a marketing leader. When night falls, I sing, play harmonica and piano and write songs. I’m also a DJ.
My music is deeply rooted in the grooves and cultures I adore: Chicago blues. Memphis soul. New Orleans R&B. Honoring legends and showcasing originals keep my spirit alive.
I’ve performed in and around Chicago with Willie Buck, Win Noll & The Rockin’ Souls, Shoji Naito (longtime bandmate of the late Eddy Clearwater), Eddie Taylor, Jr. (R.I.P.), Bob Stroger, Barrelhouse Chuck (R.I.P.), Billy Flynn, Kenny Smith, Morry Sochat & The Special 20s, Andrew Diehl & The Nightmen, The Shakes Blues Band, and many others.
My musical mentors, Joe Filisko and Erwin Helfer, paved the way.
One of my biggest thrills was performing with Muddy Waters’ longtime drummer - the late Willie “Big Eyes” Smith - at the 2008 Chicago Blues Harp Bash opening for Billy Boy Arnold.
I choose to play the blues. But, I’m inspired by all kinds of music and the many roads that lead me back to the blues:
Hip Hop. House. Reggae. Gospel. Jazz. Soul. Rock. R&B. Rocksteady. Funk. Folk. Country. Cuban. Cumbia. Classical.
I love sharing stories about the paths I’ve taken on my musical journey. Check out my blog: Bent Notes.
